Houston, Texas Pat Jones, BOLD organizer in Houston, organized three nights of BOLD theatre: September 1at Hogg Middle School, September 2 at Arts Alliance Center of Clear Lake and September 3 at Motherhood Center. Pat reports: Whew! - What an experience - we ended up with about 300 total - our last performance was “standing/sitting on the floor room only” but was very hot - the a/c wasn't very good and it is hot here - but it didn't dampen our enthusiastic cast or audience. The audience was applauding standing up before we were through with the last lines - it was fantastic! We were all so happy. At our first performance on Friday night we had a crowd of 100 - and they loved it. We had a mother in the audience who cried as she told us that she has totally changed her mind and now can support her daughter who wants to homebirth. Our second performance on Saturday was really good. Again people were crying and one of the suggestions was to have Kleenex in the audience. We made changes in peoples lives obviously. We have been doing the BIRTH Fair in Houston every year for 5 years now and doing outreach talks, etc for several years and this play affected more people than anything we have done to raise the consciousness of our community - we are so very pleased I am coming down from my high and back to reality now. I had such fun and can't wait until next year - all our actors and in fact everyone who participated is experiencing a high from the event. Pat forwarded this email sent sent to her after Houston's BOLD performances:Thought you might like to hear what a client of mine wrote to me. She has written me twice since seeing the play on Sunday. The first time she wrote:
Y'all rock! A BOLD thanks to… Pat writes, “I have so many people to thank - we had such wonderful support - the cast, the director, husbands, volunteers, children of the cast. Thank you to ernie, jeff, tom, issac, emily, christine, heidi, carol, sarah, keri, aimee, vanessa, carol, Stephanie.”
