BOLD Locations

New Delhi, India

After the roof caved in at their first choice venue, Janet Chawla, BOLD coordinator in New Delhi, and her crew pulled off an amazing two nights of theatre at a new venue on September 1 and 2. Janet reports:

It was fantastic, amazing, magic! Wonderful really--thanks so much for writing it....words fail me here....truth.

I usually am not at a loss for words, but in the days after our BOLD performance I have been thinking (really feeling) about our intense and joyous times with the play--but unable to sit and write about it all.

So many people have expressed appreciation and admiration for the quality of the performance--and it is truly amazing that we were able to do what we did, and bond the way we did. Each and every one of you stepped into your characters and brought them alive spectacularly. Reminds me of an old bumper sticker--"The goddess is alive and magic is afoot."

And there, in the background, was Divya, midwife-ing it all with her enthusiasm. "You can do it." "We can do it!"

Now Divya has the video and the next step is arranging a common viewing before we send it off to New York.

We also may reach out to find a sponsor and perform it again, for a larger audience. A big thank you to everyone for their time, efforts, and above all soulfulness. I feel very, very blessed by everyone’s presence.

And from an audience member in New Delhi, Janet forwarded us the following email:

Dear Janet, Divya, Nidhi, Vasanti, Estelle, Elisha, Amy, Lola, Anju, Melissa

BRAVO!   BRAVA!   You did it!   A staging of Bold Birth over the labour day weekend in consonance with performances worldwide.

I found the writing (and reading) really riveting.  Far from being scary or gory or a turnoff in any way, it was great to hear about the diversity of experiences. The intimate setting worked really well and all the performers seemed to be really into their roles.

At the end of the evening, my mind was echoing with the chorus "MY BODY ROCKS" and I left feeling quite envious of my dog Madonna and every other mama who's been through the bold birth experience. Perhaps the only type of women's experience of birth not covered in the play was that of those who wanted it so badly but were unable to.

Three cheers for you all.  Well done!
